The Captains and the Gear

Captain Drew Mixon  is a USCG Master Captain with qualifications to operate vessels from inshore sized boats, to ocean going commercial craft.  Not only an angler, Drew is a true outdoorsman and steward of our beautiful central Florida environment.  Drew has attained the level of master birder and his knowledge of facts and trivia concerning Florida's wildlife will entertain you with interesting things you didn't know before you climbed aboard.

Drew's fished Florida waters for over 40 years and developed techniques to put great fish in the boat.  He’s always been a family man and introduced his boys to fishing and the great outdoors at an early age.

Drew has captained teams at the professional level on the redfish tours, pro kingfish tour, countless offshore tournaments and 2 different professional bass tours.  With 7 IGFA records and trophy catch citations in 4 states to his credit, Drew uses the techniques he developed in his tournament angling to help anglers be more efficient on the water.

Drew is known far and wide as not taking himself, or things too seriously.  If you enjoy a laugh and don’t want to be overly intense while putting giant fish in the boat, Drew will definitely make your day.

Captain Micha Mixon is a Florida native who has been fishing since he was in diapers--literally.  Micha fished in his first tournament at age 3 and has been tournament fishing ever since.  Micha received his first IGFA junior world record at age 7. He was one of the youngest USCG certified captains to be certified in Florida and is currently working on his Master Captain certification.  With dozens of tournament wins and numerous trophy sized fish on his resume, he is a genuine force on the water.  Micha has been kayak fishing since 2006 and is at home in a kayak as most people are in their living room.

With a network of young anglers, he stays on top of what's biting and were.  Micha has a fresh and youthful attitude about his fishing, and with angling experience greater than most ‘old salts’, he makes a great guide for both experienced and novice anglers.  Many times he can ‘connect’ with younger anglers accompanying dad or mom.  He can talk the talk, and certainly walk the walk.

Both Capt Drew and Capt Micha are USCG certified captains--not just 'guides'.

This means they have accumulated and documented extensive  experience on the water, completed all mandated training, passed strict drug tests, underwent federal background checks and passed the USCG's challenging testing protocol.

This is the highest standard a professional in this field can achieve. Not all bass guides attempt this route.

The title of Captain is truly earned, and that level of professionalism is evident in the way we conduct our business and provide for our anglers.

Each consider themselves true outdoorsmen and sportsmen and pride themselves on their knowledge of our Florida outdoors.

Our boats are incredibly lightweight with high-powered aircraft engines.

Yup, the same engine that lifts a multi-passenger airplane into the air is the same engine we depend on to fly across the marsh.  These engines are ultra-light and ultra-powerful.

For the adventures we seek, we need every advantage to get way, way back in the marsh and then safely land back in civilization.

Our boats are a little different than the normal airboat tour boats.  Lighter, sleeker and laid out with fishing space in a mind.  Airboats actually have more bow space than a traditional bass boat because of the square nose design.

Modern electronics, remote control trolling motors and PowerPole anchors just as you'd see on any performance fishing machine.

Our fishing equipment is state of the art, tournament grade.  For most of our trips where we will be using live bait, we prefer larger spinning reels on inshore rods.  We find that heavy spinning tackle makes for a much more enjoyable experience for everyone.  You'll only find on board our boats the highest quality Shimano reels spooled with new, high quality braided lines.

We do have a collection of bait casting reels--all high end Shimano, if fishing with plugs and lures is the way you like to fish.
